Cat Hammocks, Pet Steps and Dog Ramps: How to Choose

For cats who like to be up high, and pets who need a little help getting up to the sofa or bed. This guide covers what each one is for, with its size and weight rating.

Up off the floor

  • The wall-mounted cat hammock gives your cat a raised lookout without using any floor space. A curved wooden frame holds a padded sling. It measures about 55 × 47 cm and is rated to hold up to 18 kg.
  • The raised outdoor cat house sits on its own metal stand on the deck or verandah, with a door flap, side windows and a pitched roof. The M is rated to hold up to 10 kg and the L up to 15 kg. We haven't tested it in heavy rain, so we suggest a sheltered spot like a porch or under the eaves.

A step up

  • The plush pet steps sit beside a sofa or bed, about 45 cm wide, 35 cm long and 30 cm high, and are rated to hold up to 32 kg.
  • The foldable dog steps are two fabric steps: the lower one is a storage box with a lid, and the taller one has a cubby with a soft pad inside.
  • The folding wooden dog ramp suits a single step about 12–18 cm high, at the back door, a porch or a low bed. It has three height settings and a textured mat for grip, arrives assembled, and is rated to support up to 68 kg.

Measure the height of your sofa, bed or step before you order.
