For cats who need to scratch, hide and pounce, and owners who'd rather they left the sofa alone. This guide helps you choose a scratcher and where to put it. Watch where your cat already likes to scratch, up the side of the couch or across a rug, and put a scratcher right there.
Scratchers
- Up the wall. The wall-mounted sisal scratcher sticks on with adhesive stickers, with no drilling, and weighs about 300 g. Choose an oval or an arch, in M (55 cm high) or L (58 cm high), each with a teaser ball. Mount it where your cat can scratch at full stretch, or stand it against the side of the sofa.
- On the floor. The sisal mat with a bound edge (30 × 40 cm) lies flat, drapes over a sofa or sits against a wall. The cotton rope mat has two little cat ears and comes in three sizes, from 35 × 35 cm to 50 × 50 cm.
- Cut to fit. The self-adhesive scratching mat is a 30 × 60 cm ribbed sheet you trim and stick in place.
- Scratch and play. The foldable cardboard scratcher opens out like an accordion, with a ball with a bell inside to chase.
Hide and play
The 3-way tunnel has a peep hole on top and a ball at one opening, and folds away after play. The peekaboo cat cave has round peek-holes and an open top, is made with multi-cat homes in mind, and is rated to support pets up to 10 kg.
